Project Overview
Reclaim is a wellbeing app designed to help young adults build healthier relationships with rest through small, intentional moments throughout the day. Developed in response to increasing burnout culture in Aotearoa, the project explores how productivity-driven lifestyles shape the way people perceive rest and recovery.

Personal Motivation
Reclaim emerged from my own experience balancing demanding personal and professional responsibilities, and frustration with productivity-driven wellness culture.
The Problem
Many young adults struggle to mentally disconnect from productivity, often viewing rest as something that must be earned rather than prioritised.
Existing wellbeing apps often focus on optimisation and performance, telling people when, how and why to rest. Rather than reducing pressure, many experiences reinforce it.
Design Philosophy
Designed as a softer alternative to performance-driven productivity tools, Reclaim encourages sustainable rest habits through gentle prompts and calming interactions, helping users pause more intentionally throughout the day.
Creating a Calming Experience
The interface was intentionally designed with an open and breathable layout to create a sense of calm and reduce cognitive load. Generous spacing, minimal interactions and simplified navigation reinforce the app's low-pressure approach to rest and wellbeing.

Key Features & Interactions
Through gentle notifications, mindful prompts and reflective exercises, Reclaim encourages users to engage with rest as an ongoing practice rather than a task to complete.

Rest on Your Own Terms
Rather than helping users optimise their time, Reclaim focuses on helping them take it back.
